Umm, Why Are We Doing This?

Yesterday was the first day of swim team practice for the boys. As the day went by we watched the wind pick up and the sky turn an ominous dark gray. But, hey they love to swim so it'll all be good. Right? Umm, no. Mason was all smiles as he hopped up and down to stay warm before undressing and heading over to the pool. He sat well for the team meeting, which is not an easy thing for our wiggly boy. Then it happened, they went to get in the pool and he broke down. He didn't know where to go, there were so many swimmers and he was freezing. Although the pool was heated, it was a blustery day and not one best suited for the pool. But he put on his brave face and got in the water. He couldn't help but cry as he bobbed up and down and listened to his teeth chatter. He stayed in the pool for the whole practice, and when he came out for his towel he froze. He couldn't move and I had to run over to him with his warm towel. As we walked over to the building to go inside and change, he kept saying "my legs won't move Mommy and my teeth keep going up and down." So again, I win Mommy and the Year for forcing my child to swim on a day when snow formed on top of Mt. Diablo while we were at swim practice. Yes, it was that cold.

Jaxon was nervous after seeing his brother go through that. But he made it through like a champ. He swam that pool up and back without complaining at all. He told me it wasn't cold until the very end and then of course when he had to get out.

Mason kept telling us that he wasn't going back to swim practice. But he did. The sun was out today and the wind slowed to a soft whisper. They swam, they smiled, and all was right with the world. Let's hope they feel the same when it suddenly too hot to swim.

So cute!

You can't get much cuter than this vampire!

Day Trip

Today we went to Mickes Grove on Lodi. The kids found lots of money on the egg hunt at Papa and Nana's house so they carefully budgeted to buy ride tickets and gifts at the gift shop. There was also enough money for an icee. I'll post more when my dad emails me his pictures. WOuldn't you know it, my camera battery died as soon as we got there.

Must Be a Boy Thing

This toy came in the Easter basket. It created much fun and laughter.
You pull the string and the saucer takes flight.

Which leads to this.

And this.

Which means he waits here.

While they launch it over and over.

And then send the little one up to fetch it. Don't worry, he only retrieved them if they were in the rain gutter and could reach by being lifted up

But boy did he want to climb up there like Uncle Tim.

That's right, he'll get him one way or another.

But Tim can handle it...piece of cake.

Hoppy Easter

The boys woke up to stuffed easter baskets left by the bunny himself. They were loaded with candy, flip flops, new swim trunks, kites, and a new shirt to wear today. We spent brunch at my mom's house. Traci and Josh came over for an egg hunt with Ava and the boys. Caiden slept through most of his first Easter, but those of us who held him were fine with that. He's such a snuggle bug! We ended our day at my dad's house for dinner and another egg hunt. Boy those bunnies sure make a lot of easter eggs!

Easter Eve

We waited to dye eggs until the very last minute. I was also inspired by this idea that I saw at the scrapbook store. I think they came out cute!

Day in the City

Today we headed to SF to visit the Academy of Science Museum. It was so incredibly crowded! However, we managed to visit every single nook and cranny of that place. We did not make it to the rain forest since the line was SO long every time we walked by. The big hits for us were the Aquarium, the 3D Bug moview, and the African Wildlife Museum. Personally, I think the kids liked climbing the trees outside the best! On our way out we stopped at the beach for some playing in the sand. It was super breezy, but sunny and beautiful.
